Independent subcontractor
You’re one person — the account admin and the consultant in a single login. Follow the steps below to build your own profile and get working.
Placing your employee
Your firm registers with a back-office admin, then invites the person you’re placing from Settings → Users. They build their own profile and do the work; you manage the account.

Create your account on the free Solo Sub plan
Sign up, choose Provide Consulting, and pick the free Solo Sub plan. Solo Sub is built for individuals and firms who work through other consulting companies rather than directly with hiring companies.

Build your profile
Create your resume with a title, summary, skills (with proficiency levels), and your hourly rate. This is the baseline rate a prime firm will negotiate from. Registering on behalf of an employee? Invite them from Settings → Users → Invite and they'll build their own profile using these same steps.

Set availability
An availability period is created automatically (40 hrs/week). Adjust your hours and date ranges, and add time off so primes see your real capacity.

Connect your payout account
Set up your Stripe payout account so you can get paid. This is required before your profile can go live.

Stay open to subcontracting & go visible
Keep open to subcontracting turned on (it’s the default), then flip your resume to Visible in search. Note: Solo Sub profiles are shown to consulting firms (primes), not to hiring companies directly.

Connect with a prime firm
Two ways to get working: send an offer to a prime you already know, or stay visible and let Agency firms find you and send a subcontracting request. Your rate comes from your resume or offer — the prime can’t change it — and you confirm with an e-signature.

Work flows through the prime
Once active, you appear to clients under the prime’s brand at their client rate, while you’re paid your agreed sub rate. Linked assignments, invoices, and payouts are handled automatically — and you never pay an origination fee on your sub invoices.

Common questions
Can I register my firm and place one of my employees?
Yes. Register your company (the person signing up becomes the admin), then invite the person you’re placing from Settings → Users → Invite. They build their own profile and do the work; you manage the account. It’s still free on Solo Sub.
Can I place more than one person?
On the free Solo Sub plan you can have one active consultant at a time. You can add several people to your account, but only one can be actively engaged at once. When an engagement ends you can swap to another person. To run more than one at the same time, upgrade to the Agency plan.
What’s the difference between Solo Sub and Solo Pro?
Solo Sub is free and for subcontracting work only — you can’t create direct agreements with hiring companies, and your profile is visible only to consulting firms. Solo Pro unlocks direct hiring-company engagements and full search visibility. Both support one active consultant at a time. See the consulting guide.
Why can’t hiring companies find me directly?
Solo Sub profiles are only shown to consulting firms (primes). Once a prime engages you, you appear to their clients under the prime’s brand.
Who sets my rate, and what does the prime charge?
You set your hourly rate. The prime negotiates the sub rate they pay you and separately sets their own client rate. You never pay an origination fee on the sub (prime-to-you) invoice.
How do I get paid?
After your hours are approved, your firm invoices the prime at your sub rate. When the prime pays that invoice on its due date, your payout is sent to your connected bank account (minus Stripe’s transfer fee). You’re paid on your agreed terms with the prime — it does not wait on the end client paying the prime, and your sub leg can even be on a faster cadence than the prime’s client invoices.
Do I need a paid plan?
No — Solo Sub is completely free.
